We were pretty doggone proud last year when a “Four Star” rating was awarded to your Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) by Charity Navigator. That’s an independent, non-profit organization that evaluates more than 7,000 charities across the country. Not only did we get their highest Four Star rating last year…we earned 98.68 out of 100 possible points.
That was last year.
We’ve just received our new rating. Yes, RCHS is still a Four Star organization. But this year we’ve earned 99.83 of 100 possible points making your Rancho Coastal Humane Society one of the highest rated animal welfare organizations in the United States!
As Charity Navigator says, a coveted 4-star rating shows sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency. In other words, when you make a charitable donation to RCHS you can be confident that your money will be used wisely and that we will answer any questions you have about how we operate.
RCHS President Jim Silveira says that a Four Star rating from Charity Navigator is reassurance for Rancho Coastal Humane Society supporters. “We’re all flooded with requests for donations. Some are worthy. Some are phony. Others just do a poor job in how they use your money. We encourage anyone considering a donation to Rancho Coastal Humane Society to visit the shelter. Take a tour, see what we do, and ask questions. It’s important to know how your donations will be used to help others.”
Charity Navigator points out that, “savvy donors are demanding more accountability, transparency, and quantifiable results from the charities they choose to support with their hard-earned dollars. Our goal in all of this is to provide donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.”
In the letter to RCHS, Charity Navigator stated, “Rancho Coastal Humane Society outperforms most other charities in America. This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Rancho Coastal Humane Society from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
While we’re proud of this new rating, we understand that we need to earn it every day. Not just one time every year. Every animal deserves a tomorrow. ®
