Jim’s Last Letter

It was nineteen years ago when I walked into your Rancho Coastal Humane Society for the first time as a staff member, and not as “Jim from German Shepherd Rescue.”

On Tuesday, May 1st, I’ll walk out for the last time as President of RCHS. The decision was made several months ago and the transition has been underway behind the scenes.

The staff, volunteers, friends, and donors, they all ask, “Why?”

Because it’s time. Amy and I are taking on a more active role in a growing family business. This will also allow us to spend more time with each other and our daughters.

I am so proud to have been a part of RCHS. I will never forget our amazing staff and volunteers and will be forever thankful to you, our generous donors, who make everything possible.  We have saved thousands of animals’ lives. Our programs continue to grow and provide education and support to our community and those in financial and domestic crisis.

I’ll still be here as a member of the RCHS Board of Directors. I appreciate this opportunity to stay involved. My final day as RCHS President will be May 1, 2018.

RCHS is proud to announce that Judi Sanzo will become President/CEO. It’s a wise decision. Judi’s career as a corporate attorney specializing in non-profit organizations will continue to serve RCHS. She has been actively involved, serving as Board Vice Chair and Secretary during the last 5 years. Judi and I have spent time together during the past few months to give her the insights, observations and historical perspective essential to keeping RCHS moving forward.  Judi’s passion for animals and social justice, her legal experience, and her knowledge of how RCHS works on behalf of the animals and people we serve will make our transition seamless. Her first official day is May 2nd. Feel free to reach out to Judi at [email protected] or at 760-753-6413.

Thank you for your support of Rancho Coastal Humane Society and the many kindnesses shown to me over the years. I will cherish our wonderful friendships and I hope to see you at an RCHS event in the future.
