Now appearing at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society

Imagine their surprise when we told our media partners at the Fox 5 Morning News that Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood would be appearing with us!

When the commotion died down we explained that Faith Hill was a 2 year old Chihuahua and Carrie Underwood was her 6 month old daughter. They arrived at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society through our FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) program.

You’ve probably noticed that we go with themes when we receive a whole bunch of cats or dogs. For example, about a week ago one of our guests adopted two kittens named Pepper and Princess Puffy Pufferton.

We had a bonded pair of rabbits named Handsome and Pretty. (They were!)

Right now we have cats and dogs named after country music superstars. There’s Faith Hill’s husband…a cool cat named Tim Mc Graw.

We have cats named Keith Urban, Shania Twain, and Kenny Chesney.

Over in the kennels Dolly Parton’s kennel is right next to Willie Nelson’s.

Johnny Cash, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Martina Mc Bride dogs were adopted on Sunday.

Why do we do this? It’s fun! And we’ve been naming animals since 1960. That’s a lot of names. If we can find a theme, it helps get the creative juices flowing.

We’ve also noticed that, if you put Brad Paisley next to Luke Bryan and Reba McEntire, people look to see if the pets act like the superstars. They lean in for a closer look. Then their eyes lock.

The person looking for the unconditional love of an animal recognizes it for the first time.

Others see the pure love that they thought they would never know again.

If it’s not a good time to adopt you can make a donation or “sponsor” pets until they are adopted. https://rchumanesociety.org/give/sponsor-a-pet/

Our new Teen Foster program for kids 15 and older, working with their parents, provides hands-on experience for young animal lovers. Contact Jessica for more information. https://rchumanesociety.org/volunteer/teen-foster-program/
