Why was your Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s Thrift Shop Closed?

Remember that old saying about, “No good deed goes unpunished?” That’s what happened at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s Thrift Shop at 120 Aberdeen Drive in Cardiff by the Sea when Brian decided to repair the floor. It’s getting better. But (depending on your age) it was Yogi Berra or Lenny Kravitz who reminded us, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

While other thrift shops have been closing, your RCHS Thrift Shop has expanded again and again! Manager Brian Cook has knocked out walls and taken over more and more of the building. Money generated by increased sales helps people and animals.

When Brian finally reached a point where he could take a breath he realized that everything had gotten better, except the floor. It was a doggone disaster. Here’s an example. The Thrift Shop looks great! But if you look closely, the floor needs help.

Pretty simple. Right? You close for a couple days, replace the floor and re-open. Easy!

Wrong!

The day came, the workers were late. When they got there they didn’t have enough materials. Rumors spread that RCHS had closed the Thrift Shop. (WRONG!)

Brian arranged for them to replace half the floor so they could re-open after a few days. We ran into Other Brian in the parking lot and asked how Brian was doing. Other Brian shook his head and said, “Don’t ask. But if you want to see something really funny, ask Sean to show you the new shirt he bought at the Thrift Shop.”

So here’s the deal. The Thrift Shop was closed for a few days and it’s open now. The flooring guys are scheduled to come back on June 4th to finish the job. It should take three days. The Thrift Shop will be open during the construction. After that, there’s some painting starting June 11th. That will take a couple days. The Shop will remain open.

Brian is smiling again. Other Brian can’t stop looking at Sean’s new shirt. And Sean keeps asking, “What are you lookin’ at? I like this shirt!”

Most important, the money raised at the Thrift Shop helps people and animals when they need it most. Thank you for supporting your Rancho Coastal Humane Society where we believe Every Animal Deserves a Tomorrow. ®
