Youth Programs

Animals are a source of great fascination for children of all ages. Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) encourages children to share their passion for animals. Our Humane Education programs focus on teaching children the importance of proper care and compassion toward the animals that share our world. All of our education programs offered are geared towards embracing children’s natural love and curiosity about animals while fostering a sense of respect and kindness for all life.

Kids Community Service (KCS) Program:

Apply Today…Students, grades 6 through 12, can share their passion for animals by participating in the Kids Community Service program during the school year. The month-long programs meet one weekday per week. Click Here for more info about the KCS Program.

Birthday Parties:

Birthdays only come once a year, so it’s important to make sure they are special.  Celebrate your birthday at Rancho Coastal Humane Society. We have three different birthday packages to choose from.  You can also choose to ask your friends to bring donations for RCHS to your birthday party instead of bringing gifts.  It’s a great way to help the animals and have a memorable and meaningful birthday party.  Click Here for more info about out birthday parties.

Animal Camps:

RCHS has a whole line-up of camps to excite and educate children. Camps are held during spring, summer and fall school breaks and are age appropriate for children 6-14 years old. Camps run in themed, week-long sessions and are conducted by trained Rancho Coastal educators. Using hands-on games, activities, arts and crafts, guest speakers and of course live animals, children are taught about animals and their importance in our world.  Click Here for more info about our Animal Camps.

Shelter Tours:

Tours of Rancho Coastal Humane Society are available to groups of all ages. During each tour, guests will get to see shelter animals up close and personal and have special access to areas not open to the public. Tours end with a pet safety discussion and a guest appearance by one of our animal ambassadors. All tours are conducted by trained staff, can be tailored to the needs of individual groups and are provided at no cost. Donations are accepted and appreciated 🙂

Happy Tales:

Happy Tales is our once a month reading program giving children ranging from ages 6-12 the opportunity to read to our adoptable dogs, cats and rabbits.  If your child is interested in participating in this program please CLICK HERE for more information.
