Tell Me a Phrase that Begins With the Word “Safe”

After 59 years of serving people and animals during the times they need us most, it’s nice to be reminded that your Rancho Coastal Humane Society is staying true to our mission. As we say here at the shelter, “Do good things for the right reasons.”

Last week we were reminded that we’re right on track by the TV game show “Family Feud.” Family Feud conducted a survey of 100 participants, asking for “a phrase that begins with the word ‘Safe.’” As host Steve Harvey said, “House! House is the number one answer!’”

At RCHS, we’ve known this for years.

Animal Safehouse Program Director Justina Kirkland says, “Research suggests that feeling safe is a basic evolutionary need for any living being. This is the reason for the existence of our Animal Safehouse Program.”

Recently, Justina told us about Adeline, a mother of four cats who were cared for by ASP. Adeline says, “ASP empowers victims to take action and seek safety for themselves and their family.”

Justina says that, while Adeline’s cats stayed briefly in ASP, they received love from your Volunteer Foster Program, lifesaving medical attention from your Veterinary Staff, attentive care from your Animal Care Attendants, and safety from your Animal Safehouse Program.

When Adeline and her cats exited the Animal Safehouse Program, she told Justina, “Thank you for caring for my pets and keeping them safe while I got on my feet and established a safehouse for us.”

As RCHS has been saying for more than two decades and as the Family Feud survey participants agreed…”Safe” and “House” just go together!

Whether the person needing our helps is a veteran, active duty military, a senior, or a victim of domestic violence…..RCHS never charges for the services of our Animal Safehouse Program. We can do this thanks to you and your support.
