We’re Perfect! But Don’t Take Our Word for it.

While your Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) has received a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator for the sixth consecutive year…this year is extra special. This year RCHS earned a perfect score of 100 out of 100 possible points.

There are only three other working animal shelters in the United States with a perfect score of 100. RCHS is the only animal shelter in San Diego County with a rating of 100. RCHS is also the highest rated animal shelter in Southern California.

The perfect rating is based on Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s financial health, the shelter’s commitment to accountability and transparency in reporting. Only a quarter of the 9,158 charities rated by Charity Navigator earn the distinction of a 4-star rating.

While the rating is spectacular for the shelter, the true benefit is for current and future RCHS supporters and donors. Nina Jimenez Taylor, Director of Development and Communications, explains, “Charity Navigator has been reporting a 4-star rating for RCHS for years, and our overall score has been increasing, until we got stuck at 99.97 out of 100.  Those elusive 0.03 points were earned this year, finally putting RCHS in an elite group of non-profit organizations. When you donate to RCHS, you can trust us with your money.”

According to Charity Navigator, Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s rating proves that RCHS operates in accordance with industry best practices and is open with its donors and stakeholders.

RCHS President and CEO Judi Sanzo says, “Our 4-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters our good governance and financial accountability. I’m thrilled our team has achieved this important recognition.”
