Rehoming our Hugo is not a decision we ever imagined making, but our greatest priority is finding someone who can give him the care, attention, and love he deserves for the rest of his life.
He is a sweet, gentle, and incredibly loyal companion. He has a calm, easygoing personality and would be happiest as the center of someone’s world. We envision him with a retired individual or couple who is home most of the time and looking for a devoted best friend to share their days with.
Because he has Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), he needs a home that can accommodate his special needs. After his surgery, the surgeon stated he made a full recovery and should live a normal, happy life with the right environment and care. A single-story home is essential, along with a commitment to careful weight management and avoiding excessive heat. His ideal home would have no other pets and no children, allowing him a quiet, predictable environment where he can feel safe and comfortable.
Despite his medical condition, he enjoys life’s simple pleasures. He loves leisurely walks, spending time with his favorite person, and enjoying healthy treats such as strawberries, blueberries, apples, green beans, watermelon, and sweet potatoes. He’s not a high-energy dog—just a loving companion who wants to be your shadow, your couch buddy, and your faithful friend.
We are searching for someone who will love him as family—someone who understands that he isn’t just a dog, but a cherished companion who deserves patience, understanding, and unconditional love. He has so much affection to give and will reward the right person with unwavering loyalty and companionship.
If you are looking for a calm, devoted friend and can provide the special care he needs, we would love to talk with you. Our hope is to find a home where he will be treasured, protected, and loved like a child for the rest of his life.
