Banana Joe is the Pet of the Month

Banana Joe is the Fetch pet of the month at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society.  He’s a 1-1/2 year old, 11 pound, male, Terrier mix.

This little guy was found running stray in the southern part of San Diego County. He was taken to the nearest animal shelter. That’s where he stayed temporarily until he was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through our FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) program.

Here’s what we can tell you about him since he arrived. When he got into the Medical room for his exam, the first thing Banana Joe did was leap up onto the 3 foot tall exam table. His new family will need a pretty tall fence, or make sure he doesn’t go wandering off to someplace where he can jump a fence and go for an adventure.

While he’s technically an adult, Banana Joe is still very much a puppy. He has puppy energy. He thinks like a puppy. And he plays like a puppy.

Because of his energy level, this is not a dog you can leave alone for 8 hours while you go to work. He’ll need more attention than that.

He spent a few nights in foster care with a RCHS volunteer. She tells us that Banana Joe slept on the bed with her…under the covers. He’s a snuggle dog! And, he likes other dogs so you might have a slumber party if you bring him home to your pet!

The $145 adoption fee for Banana Joe includes medical exams, vaccinations, neuter, and registered microchip. For more information call 760-753-6413, visit Rancho Coastal Humane Society at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas, or log on to SDpets.org. Kennels and Cattery open 11 AM to 5 PM every day but Tuesday.
