Kids Community Service

Now accepting applications for our Kids Community Service Program.

The Kids Community Service(KCS) volunteer program teaches middle school and high school students about our humane society, the community, and the animals we consider family. Students earn community service hours by helping to maintain the shelter facilities by washing dishes, folding laundry, sorting donations, bagging food for our pet food pantry and any other tasks we need help with.  They also have the opportunity to interact with our adoptable animals.  Space is limited to six students for each session.

Students volunteer on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons from 4:00-5:00 once a week for four weeks.

  • All youth must be in 6th grade or age 12 or older prior to registering.
  • The fee for the program ($40 per session) is due at the time of registration.
  • If the fee is a financial strain, we have scholarships, please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.
  • If you have already completed an application through Volunteer Impact please email the education department (education@sdpets.org) to register directly. You do not have to apply again.

Students participating in our Kids Community Service (KCS) Program must complete the following steps:
