Animal Safehouse Program (ASP)

The Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) Animal Safehouse Program is a safety net for community members in crisis. By offering temporary pet boarding to those experiencing domestic violence, as well as to military veterans and seniors requiring hospitalization, RCHS helps families stay together.

For someone experiencing domestic violence, finding a safe place for their pet can make the difference between staying in an unsafe environment or leaving. With temporary shelter and veterinary care for their pet, they gain support to become survivors who can ultimately reunite with their animals while pursuing a new life of safety and security.

For more information or to discuss enrollment call (760) 753-6476 or email safehouse@sdpets.org

The Animal Safehouse Program is also in need of foster homes to help care for animals needing temporary place to stay. For more information, please contact foster@sdpets.org

Support for Military Veterans

For military veterans in need of medical care, our Animal Safehouse Program is also about keeping families intact and respecting the human-animal bond. By having RCHS watch over a pet(s), veterans are able to seek the medical attention they need without having to consider giving up their pets in the process.

RCHS is proud to be partners with Dogs on Deployment  – another great resource for Military Veterans!
