President’s Letter – April 2019

Dear RCHS Friends and Family,

Thank you to those who read my Fetch letters devotedly (after looking at the cute puppy, kitten and bunny pictures, of course!). By now, you know each letter starts with a phrase, “I am…” followed by an adjective that tracks the alphabet, “Adopted, Blissful, Confident, Determined, Energized, Fortunate, Giddy, Hopeful…”  So, this letter should start with the letter “I.”

Here it is:  “I am In the news,” representing Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) in the San Diego Union Tribune. Last Sunday, the North County “Local Spotlight” gave me the perfect opportunity to spread the word about what RCHS does to support our community, its animals and the people who love them. Unfortunately, with space constraints there was one important question and answer that didn’t make it in the article. I wanted to make sure to share it with our Fetch readers.

SDUT: What’s been rewarding about this work?

“Every day we watch a family leave our shelter with a new companion animal, RCHS staff and volunteers are rewarded for their good work!  Every time we release a gaggle of orphaned ducklings back into the lagoons of San Diego, wildlife staff and volunteers cannot help but cheer!  This is not easy work, but it is exhilarating.  And, RCHS cannot do the great things we do every day without our devoted volunteers, fosters, pet partners, corporate sponsors and donors – they deserve this recognition more than I!”

Sincerely,
