Crushes of the Month – July 2025

Remarkable Rusty

An Attentive and Handsome Pup

When adopters meet Remarkable Rusty, they guess he’s a Shepherd or Lab or Collie.

As near as we can tell, our dog crush this month, Remarkable Rusty, is a 2-year-old, 44-pound, male, Korean Jindo mix – a breed originated off the coast of South Korea. They’re loyal, intelligent, and athletic. Jindos are known to form close bonds with their owners, and they’re good with kids and other dogs.

Remarkable Rusty was rescued by a Good Samaritan who says that Rusty got along GREAT with his kids and his dog. When Rusty wags, he has “helicopter tail.” One more thing. Rusty has never met a lap he didn’t want to sit on. He might be okay living in an apartment.

His $145 adoption fee includes medical exam, neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and a one-year license if his new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society.

Chakapuli

A Petite Kitty Looking for a Best Friend.

If we seem to be spending extra time in the Cattery these days, it may be because we’re crushin’ big time on Chakapuli.

She’s a 2-year-old, 8-pound, female, Domestic Short Hair cat with a Brown Tabby coat.
This is a totally friendly and outgoing cat who just loves to play. Her “wand work” is truly magical! When she gets tired, Chakapuli will find a quiet place of her own where she can rest without interruption.

The $100 adoption fee for Chakapuli includes medical exams, spay, up to date vaccinations, and registered microchip.

During the month of August, as part of the Clear the Shelters event, all adoption fees for adult animals will be waived.
