Crushes of the Month – May 2025

Churu

Churu is both friendly and handsome!

Our current Kitty Crush at RCHS is Churu. He is a 2-year-old, 9-pound, male, Domestic Short Hair cat with a sleek, black coat.

Churu had been in the neighborhood for several months before he was rescued from under a house and taken to one of our crowded shelter partners.

When nobody came for him, Churu was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through our FOCAS adoption program.

Part of the reason we have such a crush on him is that Churu is one of the friendliest cats ever. When you walk into the cattery, Churu steps up to greet you. He struts around, full of confidence, ready to make friends with everyone.

The $100 adoption fee for Churu includes medical exam, neuter, up to date vaccinations, and registered microchip.

Chiclet

A Sugar-Coated Chiclet.

Our Canine Crush for this month is Chiclet, a 1-year-old, 42-pound, female, Terrier mix.

Chiclet was a stray dog, rescued from the streets of Bakersfield and taken to a crowded animal shelter. When nobody claimed her and the shelter was well over capacity, Chiclet was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through our new FOCAS adoption program partnership with the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center.

Her report card says “She is sugar-coated and full of love. A dainty sweetheart with fabulous ears! She dreams of a calm home where quiet strolls, soft snuggles, and low-key adventures are always on the agenda.”

One more thing. Chiclet does not just wag her tail. She wags her whole body!

The $145 adoption fee for Chiclet includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society.
