December 2020 – Pets of the Month

Nissan Might Like a Ride in Your Car or Truck!

Nissan and her nine puppies were transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society from one of our rescue partners through the FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) Program. The sweet mommy’s five girls and four boys were adopted right away, which is often the case with puppies.

Now, the 2-year-old, 53-pound, American Bulldog and Hound mix is waiting for her forever home. Nissan is in our Orange category, meaning she might need some confidence building at first. Once she realizes that she’s “home,” her energy and personality will grow. Nissan might like having a dog friend in her new home.

Her $145 adoption fee includes medical exam, spay, updated vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society’s Department of Animal Services.

Rafiki is already your friend!

Rafiki is a 4-year-old, 15-pound, male, Domestic Short Hair cat.

Rafiki’s name comes from an African word that means “Friend.” He was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through the FOCAS Program. He’s been staying in the home of a trained foster care volunteer. Rafiki is very social. Give him time to settle into his new home. After that, he will be your friend for life.

The $100 adoption fee for Rafiki includes medical exam, neuter, updated vaccinations, and registered microchip.

Adoptions By Appointment.”

RCHS has had a tremendous number of applications from potential adopters. We ask for your patience and understanding as it may take a week or more for one of our adoption counselors to contact you if a pet you identified appears to be a good fit.

If this isn’t the right time to adopt, you can become a “Virtual Foster.”

If you’re interested in becoming a foster volunteer, download an application at https://rchumanesociety.org/foster/ or contact Lucas at foster@sdpets.org
