President’s Letter – May 2023
Dear RCHS Friends and Family,
Have you booked your spot at our Third Annual Tees Fore Tails golf event on Tuesday, June 6th? It seems that I will once again break out my “sticks” and try not to be the anchor of my all-women’s foursome! I grew up in a golfing family – my dad still plays at 101 years old, and my nephew insists on flying out every year from Connecticut to play! If you ask me the last time that I played, I would reply, “Last year at the Second Annual Tees Fore Tails event!”
Running an animal shelter is not all fun and games, but sometimes the fun and games have a purpose. The money raised at “Tees Fore Tails” funds our adoption program, provides essential medical care for new arrivals, buys fuel for our transport van to go further in rescuing abandoned animals, and supports pet owners who need our help to care for their beloved companions. This event is the perfect way to celebrate those who support our mission, as we meet for lunch at the Omni La Costa Resort, then hit the links for 18 holes, and wrap it all up with reception full of live music, awards and raffle. There will be adoptable dogs and therapy dogs on hand as well. Of course, we cannot gather for fun without some fur!
Worried about signing up as a single golfer? Don’t be! You already have something in common with the others in your foursome – like you, they love Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) and they’re playing in honor of the animals in our care, in our community and in their own kitchens!
Worried that you are not “good enough” to compete? Don’t be! It’s a best ball scramble and your slice, shank or chunk will not affect your team’s overall score because there’s always someone who can “carry the water!”
Worried that you don’t have the right equipment or golf attire? Don’t be! Visit our Thrift Shop to get what you need and then boast about how much you saved when you show up to play!
We’re also excited to announce that Ben Higgins and Steven Woods of the “Ben & Woods Show” on 97.3 The Fan will emcee the event. They are both animal lovers and we’re excited and thankful for them to spend the afternoon with us.
Even if you don’t golf, there is fun to be had. You can come just for the reception or sponsor a team of your coworkers, neighbors or friends. Your sponsorship reduces event costs and helps us hit our fundraising goal.
