Serving Our Community….Especially Now

When social media followers were joking about toilet paper shortages, your Rancho Coastal Humane Society was preparing for battle.

• Our adoptions staff evaluated cats, dogs, and rabbits to make sure we would be able to provide proper care.
• We contacted foster care volunteers about opening their homes so we could continue to bring more animals to the shelter.
• Our medical team determined what supplies we could spare and donated them to Scripps Hospital. Pets saving human lives – how cool is that!
• Rescue Bank at Greatergood.org donated tens of thousands of pounds of pet food. We distributed it to our rescue partners at NO COST.
• The Pet Food Bank extended its hours to every Saturday, and the Animal Safehouse Program continued to serve as a safety valve to pet owners in need. We kept families together.

Some things changed temporarily.  

• • • • • • • • • • • Our Humane Education programs were suspended. Lizzie hopes to be able to hold Summer Animal Camp…for a few weeks beginning in mid-July. Stay tuned!
                    • Our Adoption Program was temporarily curtailed, but we continued to visit our shelter partners who called for help, transferring pets to RCHS through our FOCAS transport program.
                    • Our Animal Care and Adoption team devised a new program that allowed pets to find their forever families through our “Adoptions By Appointment” Program. We have re-homed more than sixty pets since we started on April 20^th!
                    • Our volunteers were asked to stay home, but we are welcoming them back in scheduled shifts with safety precautions in place.

Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society has been here for 60 years on July 1^st.

We want to make sure we’re not taking each other for granted.

We can’t do this without you. You responded when we asked for your help.

The coronavirus crisis isn’t over yet. We still need each other. Maybe more than ever.
