Thank You Aspen! You’re our Favorite Kind of Caller

When the phone rang recently at your Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) on the other end was Aspen Martin. Aspen wanted to know if it was okay if she and some of her friends held a bake sale and lemonade stand to raise money to help the animals. There would also be dog treats.

It didn’t take long for RCHS Humane Educator Lizzie Hart to say, “YES!”

It was like magic as the event began to take shape.

They created a flyer. Lizzie said that Aspen created a GoFundMe page with information about her fundraiser: https://www.gofundme.com/f/aspens-campaign-for-rancho-coastal-humane-society.

Aspen recruited nine of her friends.  They held planning meetings, created lists of everything they would need to make the event successful, and added to their original vision by including Doggy Playtime and a Doggy Photo Booth.

The date and location were confirmed. With help from her Dad and Mom, Encinitas residents Geoff and Tracy Martin, the girls were even prepared to accept cash, Venmo, and PayPal.

We’re going to fast forward here and tell you that Aspen and her friends raised $565 at the sale!  Tracy Martin’s employer even got involved, volunteering to match Aspen’s donation to RCHS, bringing the total to $1,130.  Aspen’s GoFundMe page raised an additional $140.
