Adoptions by Appointment ONLY are Now Available!

While our Thrift Shop and Shelter remain closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, adoptions are now available by appointment ONLY.

Baytovin, Aidan and Joni were among the first to be adopted this way, but there are still plenty of dogs, cats and rabbits waiting for their forever homes. This is one thing that hasn’t changed during these unprecedented times!

You can check out all of our available animals at sdpets.org. If one tugs your heartstrings and you think now might be the right time to add a new member to the family, just fill out an application and submit it by email. You’ll be contacted by an adoption counselor to decide if that pet might be a “good fit,” and we will set an appointment for a safe interaction.

Here’s all you need to know about making an Adoption Appointment.

If this isn’t a good time for you to adopt, pleased become a “Virtual Foster” by becoming a monthly pet sponsor.

When the shelter is able to reopen to the public again, you can visit us at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas.

Hours 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., closed Tuesdays.
