Fetch – June 2022 – Crushes of the Month
Citi
We have a major crush on Citi and can’t believe she hasn’t been adopted yet.
Citi is a 1-year-old, 64-pound, female, Shepherd mix. Someone left her in the night drop at an animal shelter in Riverside County. She was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS.)
Citi is a sweet and sensitive girl who can be nervous in new situations and places. She would thrive in a home willing to go at her pace and give her time to settle in. Citi will likely become a lively and rambunctious young adolescent dog in the home. Her family will want to remind Citi about the “4-on-the-floor” rule. That means no treats or attention until all four paws are on the floor. She could be great with another, older dog who can teach her good manners.
Her $145 adoption fee includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society’s Department of Animal Services.
Gus
When we picked Gus to be our Kitty Crush for the month, almost everybody gave “high fives.” Almost everybody. Everybody but Gus, who gave “high sixes.”
Gus is a 4-year-old, 13-pound, male, Domestic Short Hair cat with a Black and White coat. He’s polydactyl – Gus has six toes on both of his front paws.
He was surrendered to Rancho Coastal Humane Society when his owner could no longer care for him. He was adopted then returned because his play style was too much for the resident cat. In his previous home, Gus lived with another cat and a dog.
Polydactyl cat are also called “Hemingway Cats” because Ernest Hemingway loved them. They’re considered to bring good luck.
The $100 adoption fee for Gus includes medical exam neuter, up to date vaccinations, and registered microchip. There’s no extra cost for the extra toes.
June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. Visit RCHS to meet kittens, adolescents, adults, and senior cats. Ask about special adoption programs.
