Please Don’t Tell Him. Pogo Doesn’t Know He Only Has 3 Legs.
Animals are SO amazing! They adapt to changes in ways we humans cannot understand. Pogo is a “purr-fect” example.
Pogo was transferred to your Rancho Coastal Humane Society through our FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) Program from one of our rescue partners in Riverside County. He’s a four-month old, five-pound Domestic Short Hair kitten.
When he arrived, Pogo had an infected wound on his left, front leg. Why we would knowingly take a kitten with an injury? The answer is simple. He needed us and we could help.
A few days after his transfer, it became obvious that Pogo’s leg was beyond treatment. He was in a great deal of pain. Our Medical team scheduled surgery. Once the infected leg was removed, Pogo began his recovery.
You can tell from his picture that everything turned out fine. The hardest part of his recovery was keeping him calm while his body healed. He had been in so much pain, but now he was ready to do “zoomies” in his foster home.
With our new color coding system, Pogo is in the Green category.
GREEN– Cats in the GREEN category are usually good for first time cat owners. Cats in the GREEN category are typically social with cats and people, including kids.
This kitten, who might not have survived without us, doesn’t seem to notice anything different. He just knows he feels better.
Helping animals like Pogo is what you trust us to do. It’s why you support your Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
The $125 adoption fee for Pogo includes medical exams, vaccinations, neuter surgery, and registered microchip.
