President’s Letter – August 2020

Dear RCHS Friends and Family,

I am thankful.

Every day, I write “Thank you for your donation” in blue ink and bold strokes.  Some days, I type it into an email for a quick recognition.  I do not think a day has gone by without me saying, typing or writing “Thank you” to someone who has done something special for Rancho Coastal Humane Society. 

This is not a polite “Thank You,” although my parents taught me to be courteous. This is not a “Thank You” that is meant to prompt you to do something. This is not a gathering-family-and-friends-at-Thanksgiving-say-something-before-eating “Thank You.”  In these uncertain times, we are all learning that you cannot wait for an occasion – you have to seize the moment and make it real before it fades away. 

So, let me say it here – to all 18,000+ who read Fetch!

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Thank you for your spirit and energy.

Thank you for your enthusiasm and compassion.

Thank you for your trust and confidence.

Thank you for your patience and persistence.

Thank you for doing what is needed, more than you have to do.

Thank you for showing up and leaning in.

Thank you for coming back because we missed you!

This is a watery-eyed, genuine, heartfelt Thank You. The kind that should make you blush!  The kind that singles you out and makes you the focus of everyone’s attention. You deserve it!

Thank you for celebrating our 60^th Anniversary with us. It’s an event without a place, date or time.  You gathered together – social distance and all – and helped us “meet our match!” The first $60,000 turned into $120,000, and we are on our way to our goal of $240,000.  Bravo!
