President’s Letter – November 2021

Dear RCHS Friends and Family,

As 2021 draws to a close, there is much to be thankful for.

Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) is enjoying the sounds of the shelter as volunteers, children and visitors return to give comfort and experience the joy animals bring.

Our Fresh Start program sent home a few long-term shelter pets as our volunteers kept busy fostering and socializing new puppies and kittens. The Community Pet Food Bank continues to deliver food and supplies to pet owners who welcome a helping “paw.”

In September, our beloved Animal Care and Adoption Director moved to the Pacific Northwest. Ashley went home to live near family and has already found a new shelter team to join. She leaves us with a mighty team of animal care and adoption counselors that will carry on through the New Year with full hands and cheerful optimism.

Our Behavior and Training Department now has more than one person, which means our shelter animals will benefit from additional enrichment and training. RCHS offers ongoing advice and encouragement to our “forever” families because keeping them home once adopted is as important as sending them home!

The Thrift Shop is feeling grateful as donations improve – in quality and quantity – making this the best year ever with average sales over $3,000/day. All for the animals in our care!

At RCHS, we embrace change and believe each day brings us closer to a brighter future. We revel in the relationships formed – with volunteers, adopters, donors, and people who share a passion for saving lives of abandoned companion animals – simply, we celebrate and give thanks for YOU!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
