The Big Stars had Big Ears

If we had known how the event was going to turn out, we would have invited the paw-parazzi to come out for “Rabbits on the Road!”

Our friends at Nick & G’s Restaurant in Rancho Santa Fe recently held a benefit Sunday Brunch for your Rancho Coastal Humane Society. They even created brunch specials in honor of the event.

We generally attend an event like this with some of our dogs who are available for adoption. We would love to take cats, but most don’t travel well and can get stressed out before they even arrive at the event.

For the Nick and G’s brunch, we tried something new! We brought two bunnies from the Rabbitat. We were able to set up portable pens, food and water bowls, litter boxes, and everything else the rabbits needed to be comfortable.

They LOVED it! There was the usual nose wiggling and ear twitching. They sniffed, chewed on hay, and sampled veggies we brought for them. They cuddled in the arms of our bunny volunteer, Sarah Sedgwick, and mingled with the guests!

Most importantly, these rabbits got some time out of the shelter. This first outing worked so well that we loaded up Chester and Charlie and their habitat, and drove these fluffy white bunnies to the La Jolla Wine & Art Festival, where they enjoyed a cool spot in Ark Antiques and some quality time among the beautiful art patrons and wine aficionados.

Now we’re searching for our next opportunity to take “Rabbits on the Road!” We’ll let you know in advance so you can come out to enjoy the show and support your Rancho Coastal Humane Society, where Every Animal Deserves a Tomorrow®.
