President’s Letter – June 2021

Dear RCHS Friends and Family,

June Gloom?  Not at Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS)!

The pandemic fog is lifting, our campus has been spiffed up, and we are preparing to open the shelter for adoptions!  Wahoo!

Starting June 4th, RCHS will be open to potential adopters every Friday to Monday, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  We have created a video that takes you through the campus, highlighting the new adoption process and safety protocols that we have implemented. WATCH HERE!

Volunteers will serve as ambassadors to greet you at the gate and guide you through the kennels.  To protect our animals, volunteers and staff, we will require face masks and social distancing for now. Some areas will be closed to the general public, but signs will mark your path to adoptable pets.

We will be evaluating our schedule, policies and procedures periodically in response to pandemic updates, so please visit our website for the latest information.  The decision to re-open comes easy, but it is difficult to anticipate how everything will come together.

Thank you for your support during our too-long closure to the general public.  While adoptions by appointment were successful, it is always great to welcome potential adopters to the shelter to meet our dogs, cats and rabbits.

I would like to remind you that a customized adoption takes time. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we navigate the reopening!  This will be yet-another “first” for us and the adoptable animals in our care.  You have been missed, and we are happy to start anew with you!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
