President’s Letter – May 2022
Dear RCHS Friends and Family,
In May, all things are possible. Plan accordingly!
As I celebrate my fourth anniversary as President and CEO, I look back only long enough to measure how far we have come. My vision always has been toward the horizon, anxious to see what lies ahead. Needed changes often seemed slow to arrive, but they now are second-nature. How does that happen??
In 2018, we struggled to find our way. I kept saying “Yes,”—sometimes without reservation, sometimes just to bring contentment and ease the pain of transition. I hoped that “Yes” would take us where we needed to go. There is little doubt that “No” would not bring change, nor enthusiasm, nor loyalty.
Today, we are so ready for what comes ahead! Our building plans move through the City, our capital campaign opens with full support of the Board, and our dreams for the future are fueled by the light of day. We are celebrating new lifelong relationships – for Kaze, for Jicama, for Alloy, for Putty – as they begin their “Second Chance” after long-term stays at the shelter. We are coming out of the pandemic better for understanding what our shelter pets need, assured we can provide the medical care and behavioral training that helps to send them all home, and confident that we can improvise solutions to problems we have not yet perceived.
We are a team, and we are strong, even when short-handed. We have so much ahead, and nothing to hold us back. RCHS is moving forward with grace, grit and gravitas!
Join us in celebrating a Spring unlike any other – full of hope, compassion and joy.
Thank you for being our pillar of promise!
