Santa Paws is Coming to Town!

“He sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake!”

That’s right! Once again this Christmas, Santa Paws will be working overtime. Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society is offering a limited number of pet deliveries by Santa Paws on Christmas.

Don’t get us wrong. Santa doesn’t surprise people with pets they are not expecting. These are families already searching for pets to adopt. They meet the dog, cat or rabbit they want and go through our adoption counseling process. Once the adoptions are approved, the families get the option of having Santa Paws deliver their new pets on Christmas day. (Shhh! The kids aren’t around for this part of the adoption process.)

On Christmas morning, it’s go time for Santa Paws. He loads up his sleigh (also known as the trusty RCHS van) and hits the road with his helper and a photojournalist from CBS News 8.  We started Santa Paws deliveries ten years ago and it’s one of the most popular news stories in San Diego every year. John Van Zante, RCHS Public Relations Director and a close personal friend of Santa’s, remembers getting his first puppy for Christmas when he was six. “Getting a pet for Christmas changes your life. But remember it’s what happens after Santa leaves that really matters.”

Your new pet might already be waiting for you at Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Stop by for a visit at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas. For more information call 760-753-6413 or log on to www.sdpets.org.
